  1. What buoyant new paintings, Myrna! I love the balancing act in "Grey/Green" and the humor of "Fishing".

  2. I like the range of mood between these two and 'fishing' - you really caught something here. makes me smile.

  3. Thanks for the comments Altoon and Rapps. These were the last two
paintings of the Summer out East and I needed a curtain call. I love Picasso's late works when he hauls out all the characters from his and other artist's works. We need more humor these days. Time to laugh!

  4. NOTE FROM PAINTING IN THE BARN:

I started three paintings yesterday.  I mean I laid the foundation---strips of paper glued to the panel the color of newsprint (actually archival newsprint) .  Now what?  I want to make some work that relates to what we have been doing on the scanner....simple shapes
that can become narrative in a collective way.  I don't want one painting to hog the dialogue.
I don't want to think I am making a "masterpiece".  I think that boxes me in too much.  I want to pretend I am Ben Nicolson, Elsworth Kelly, and not the glimpser DeKooning. But, what a glimpser he was!
